Hyderabad: Musheerabad police arrested two individuals for diverting Public Distribution Rice and causing loss to the government.

The arrested people are Mohd Muzafar Hussain, 24, a labourer and resident of Musheerabad and Mohd Mujayeedduddin, 18, also a labourer and resident of Musheerabad.

“The two are daily wage labourers and their earnings were not sufficient to meet their expenses. So they decided to purchase Public Distribution System rice and transport it illegally in an autorickshaw to Nizamabad. They had been purchasing PDS rice since several months and selling it to customers at open markets for Rs 10-12 a kg,” said inspector S. Ramachander of Musheerabad.

On Saturday morning while the two were making their usual rounds with Public Distribution System rice on their vehicle, Musheerabad police officials apprehended them and seized the material.
