Chennai: In a brutal incident in the outskirts of the city on Sunday, a 37-year-old history-sheeter was beheaded by unidentified persons and his head dumped in front of his paramour’s house near Guduvanchery.

The victim has been identified as Kamalakannan (37) of Kadapperi near Tambaram who used to drive an autorickshaw. There are two attempted murder and assault cases pending against him in Peerkankaranai, Selaiyur and Tambaram police station limits.

“On Saturday night, Kamalakannan left the house at around 11 telling his wife Sudha that an important customer has called him for a ride. But he did not return till Sunday morning. Sudha filed a ‘missing’ complaint at a local police station and the police found Kamalakannan’s auto near MIT flyover in Chromepet,” the police said.

Meanwhile, Guduvanchery police received information about a man’s head lying in the middle of the Rajiv Gandhi street in Urapakkam in the small hours of Sunday. Police rushed to the spot and retrieved the head but could not find the torso. The head was sent to Chengalpattu government hospital.

Chromepet police called for Sudha to come and ascertain the identity of the deceased person and she had confirmed the head of the deceased was her husband’s. “Kamalakannan’s head was found near the house of Amudha, with whom he allegedly had an illicit relationship. Another history-sheeter Mahendran, hailing from the locality, was in a relationship with Amudha and when differences erupted between them, Kamalakannan used to be the arbitrator and got closer to Amudha thus irking Mahendran,” the police said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Kamalakannan also had the previous enmity with two other history-sheeters - Paulraj and Udaya of the locality. “As if in corroboration, Mahendran, Paulraj and Udaya have gone absconding,” the police added.

Police are under the impression that Kamalakannan could have been beheaded in a moving vehicle. Kamalakannan and Sudha have a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.
