Tractor, hit by lorry, lands on police station

A bike rider was also injured in the accident that happened just in front of the Hayathnagar police station, late on Saturday.

Hyderabad: The negligence of a drunk lorry driver resulted in injuries to another heavy vehicle driver after his vehicle landed on the police station. A bike rider was also injured in the accident that happened just in front of the Hayathnagar police station, late on Saturday.

According to the Rachakonda police, a drunk man driving a lorry in a very rash and negligent manner had rammed into a tractor before it came to a halt. The lorry was heading towards Hayathnagar from Vanasthalipuram when it hit the tractor from the rear. 

Due to the impact, the tractor hit a bike moving in front of his tractor  and then landed on the compound wall of Hayathnagar police station.

The lorry driver escaped without any injuries, but the bike rider, Siva Shankar, hailing from Taramathipet and the tractor driver, Ravi, sustained injuries. 

The tractor driver’s right hand got a fracture and the biker received mild injuries, the police said.

Hayathnagar inspector K. Satish said “The lorry driver hit the tractor, which rammed into the police station’s compound wall after hitting a motorbike rider. No policemen injured in the incident, but the tractor driver and bike rider received injuries. The compound wall of the police station  also got damaged. The accused was taken into custody and tested on breathalyser, which returned a positive result for alcohol.”

A case has been booked against the lorry driver for drunken driving and also rash and negligent driving, causing grievous injuries, and his vehicle was seized. 

The tractor driver is stated to be out of danger, according to inspector Satish.
