Driver held for raping minor in Bengaluru

SHIVAMOGGA: A driver has been arrested on chartes of raping an 18-year-old girl in Sagar. The accused, R. Kotrappa, is a driver attached to the APMC in Sagar. The girl, who has lost her father, lives close to the house of the accused.
Kotrappa had gained the confidence of the girl’s family by promising financial help in their hour of crisis. He allegedly exploited his “closeness” to the family and the psychological problems of the girl to rape her repeatedly.
In her complaint to the police, the girl alleged that he raped her several times over the last seven years and had threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone.
She was recently admitted to a hospital and she revealed to the doctors that she was being repeatedly raped. The hospital staff alerted the police, who recorded her statement and arrested Kotrappa. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
