Yanam: Youth Dies After Speeding Car Rams Into Truck
Visakhapatnam: A jolly trip for Yanam youngsters ended in a tragedy when one of them was killed on the spot and four others were injured when their speeding car rammed a slow moving truck from behind on National Highway near Pendurthy in Visakhapatnam during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.
According to the police, all the five were heavily drunk. The traffic police shifted the seriously injured to King George Hospital and cleared the highway traffic. Traffic inspector Ashok Kumar said the five youngsters Revu Pavan Kumar,27, Geddam Suresh,18, U Raj Kumar, 28, Dommeti Surya Bhagavan, 27 and Veklangi Saikrishna, 28 started off from Yanam on Monday afternoon to tour Visakhapatnam city and Araku Valley. They bought a couple of beers driving fast on the six lane highway from Pendurthi to Anandapuram.
Later they picked up the speed and rammed into the slow moving truck. Dommeti Surya Bhagavan, who was driving the car, died on the spot. The traffic police reached the spot and quickly evacuated the injured persons. The inspector said liquor and beer bottles were found in the car which indicated they were drinking while driving.
