Coimbatore: What an eerie coincidence! On a day historically associated with the great stock market crash on Wall Street in the US- the October 1929 syndrome-, an engineering graduate near Coimbatore involved in online share trading committed suicide along with his wife and two daughters in the face of mounting losses in his share business which he could not set off.

Police said that 38-year-old Senthil Kumar, residing near Avinashi Karandha Kaadu, had been frequently picking up quarrels with his wife Sudha at home, allegedly over frequently losing money in online trading, leading to larger debt exposures. The couple have 11-month-old twin daughters, Vivitha and Visitha.

Ten days ago, following a similar quarrel, Sudha had left home along with her twin daughters as even recently she had arranged to give her husband Rs 3 lakh for his business by getting a loan from a bank, sources said. She has been working as a government elementary school teacher near Karukkan Kattu Pudhur.

On Friday, Senthil had been to Sudha's parents' house in Mettupalayam, reassured her and the couple returned to their home along with the two girl kids. But he again picked up a quarrel with her on Saturday, prompting Sudha to tell her mother and sister to come down and take her back home. But tragically, before Sudha could extricate herself from the situation, Senthil Kumar allegedly hanged his two daughters in the bed room and hung himself along with his wife in another room, police said.

The shocking incident came to light when her mother and sister came to Karundhakadu on Saturday evening to take Sudha and her two babies to the former's house in Mettupalauyam. However, police have so far not found any suicide note left by Senthil Kumar and further investigations are on.
