Krishnagiri: A private school bus driver and his friend were killed in a drunken brawl when the duo was returning home with another person from a state-run liquor retailer, Tasmac shop close to their village.

On Saturday night, 23-year-old Amreesh, a private school bus driver had been to Kasavakatta village, just few kilometers from his native Sanachandaram village in Hosur of Krishnagiri district, to meet his colleagues, 35-year-old Suresh and 50-year-old Sreenivasan. Police said all three then partied heavily in the local Tasmac shop where they met another person, 38-year-old Vinayagam of Basthalapalli village who also works in the same school as bus driver.

Suddenly, the three buddies, Amreesh, Suresh and Sreenivasan had assaulted Vinayagam in a drunken brawl that emotionally shook the latter. Enraged by the incident, Vinayagam moved away from the place and waited at Bathalapalli village for his attackers to return, police said, adding, on spotting the trio there coming in a two-wheeler, he stopped their vehicle and attacked all of them with a lethal weapon.

Even as two of them, Suresh and Sreenivasan, who sustained serious injuries, were initially sent to the Hosur government hospital, Suresh was later taken to a private hospital in Bengaluru where he died in the early hours of Sunday. The Hosur Hudco police went to the spot and recovered the body of Amreesh. A case has been registered and police have launched a search to nab the assailant, Vinayagam, who is on run.
