Hyderabad: Trainee IPS booked for harassing wife
The woman, in her complaint, told the police that she had met Reddy, a native of Kadapa, in 2009, while studying at OU and they fell in love.
Hyderabad: A trainee IPS officer, K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, was booked in a case for alleged domestic violence at Jawahar Nagar police station.
The case was registered following a complaint from the wife of the probationer, working with south central railways, that her husband was subjecting her to harassment and was neglecting her after he got selected as an IPS probationer.
The victim, 28, a resident of Keesara, approached the Jawahar Nagar police and lodged a complaint and a case was subsequently registered by the police under sections 498 A, 323 and 506 of IPC and relevant sections of SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on Sunday.
The woman, in her complaint, told the police that she had met Reddy, a native of Kadapa, in 2009, while studying at OU and they fell in love.
In February 2018, they got married at Keesara sub-registrar office and were living at Padmarao Nagar. She claimed that Reddy did not inform his parents about the marriage, as he wanted to tell them after clearing the civil services examinations.
Reddy later got selected by the UPSC for Indian Police Service in 2018 and is under probation.
The woman alleged that after getting selected for UPSC, her husband neglected her and his parents who got to know about the marriage and were not ready to accept her. She is being forced to divorce Reddy and alleged that even after his facing police counselling, she is facing harassment.
Kushaiguda ACP K. Shiva Kumar, said, “Based on the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered at the Jawahar Nagar police station against the IPS probationer. Following the probe, necessary action will be taken.”
