Andhra Pradesh: Gang of robbers arrested
The victims had approached police and filed a complaint on the same day saying that the culprits had come in two cars.
Tirupati: Kuppam police of Chittoor district caught a 12-member gang of dacoits near Kuppam on Tuesday. The gang had robbed Rs 22 lakh from a car belonging to Tamil Nadu on Monday on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by threatening the passengers with knifes. The victims had approached police and filed a complaint on the same day saying that the culprits had come in two cars.
Police blocked all the roads the next day and started checking the vehicles. The officials found Rs 20.8 lakh in a vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle later admitted to the investigators that they robbed the victims after threatening the complainant.
The accused are identified as Dharani, Ilango, Amzad Sharif, Mukhtiyar, Suresh, Afzal, Noorullah, Tajju, Jilan, Shabbir, Hussain and Meghanadhan, all from different parts of Tamil Nadu. The police have registered a complaint under IPC 395 and they were remanded.
