Visakhapatnam: Man hacks son to death for refusing to sell land

A 60-year-old retired government teacher hacked his 30-year-old son (a software engineer) to death.

Visakhapatnam: Upset with his son refusing to sell a piece of land that the family owned, to his sister, a 60-year-old retired government teacher hacked his 30-year-old son (a software engineer) to death. They were residents of Navya Nagar in Rajam town of Srikakulam district in the wee hours on Friday. Kalipindi Srikanth Naidu, working as a software engineer in Hyderabad had not been on good terms with his father K. Seetharam Naidu for the past few weeks owing to a property dispute.

Seetaram Naidu, who owns 0.8 acre land at Garividi area in Vizianagaram district decided to sell the property to his sister to perform her marriage. However, Srikanth Naidu, who came to his hometown a couple of days back, refused to sell the land at a low price to his aunt and forced his father to sell the land to someone at a higher price.

On Thursday night, father and the son had a heated argument before going to bed. In the wee hours of Friday, Seetharam Naidu picked up a sickle lying in the house and attacked his son inflicting severe injuries while he was asleep. Though Naidu was admitted in a private hospital by his neighbours, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.

Inspector of Rajam rural police station, M. Veera Kumar said that they registered a case againt the accused Seetharam Naidu under relevant sections of the IPC — namely, Sections 302 and 201 of IPC and investigation is on. The cops have handed over the body of the software engineer to his relatives following the postmortem procedure.
