7 convicted in Varkala murder case

Six other accused were acquitted owing to lack of sufficient evidence.

Thiruvananthapuram: Seven accused, including state leaders of the Dalit Human Rights Movement (DHRM), were found guilty in the Varkala Sivaprasad murder case by the Thiruvananthapuram second additional sessions court on Wednesday.

Six other accused were acquitted owing to lack of sufficient evidence. Sessions judge A. Badharudheen will pronounce the sentence on Thursday.

Ayiroor native Sivaprasad, 60, was murdered on September 23, 2009 while he was on a  morning walk at Ayiroor.
