Jharkhand: Man beaten to death by sons for raping daughters-in-law
The duo, Rinku Paswan, 24 and Chotu Paswan, 21 were arrested on Monday after they accepted to killing their father.
Garhwa: A 49-year-old man was beaten to death by his two sons after they caught him raping his daughters-in-law in Jharkhand's Garwah district.
The duo, Rinku Paswan, 24 and Chotu Paswan, 21 were arrested on Monday after they accepted to killing their father, police said.
According to police sources, Rinku caught his intoxicated father, Suraj, red-handed molesting the elder daughter-in-law while she was asleep in her room. However, he hunted him away and gave a warning not to repeat the act.
“On hearing my wife’s cry for help I rushed into the room and chased away my father. I forgave him as he was highly drunk,” Rinku told police.
However, Suraj reportedly returned after an hour and repeated the crime on his younger daughter-in-law (Chhotu's wife). The brothers got furious on seeing this and beat him to death. They then hung his dead body on a mango tree intending to make it look like a suicide.
“We thrashed him to teach a lesson but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries. There was no intent to kill him,” Rinku was quoted as saying by the police.
According to police, the duo later confessed to their crime.
“The two sons have been arrested for killing and hanging their father when he attempted to molest their wives in a drunken state. With their confession, the murder mystery has been solved,” Garhwa superintendent of police, Priyadarshi Alok said.
The two sons often moved to other states after monsoon for work and that's when Suraj took advantage of the situation and got habituated to raping his daughters-in-law, police said.
