Girlfriend's hubby suspect in RJ murder case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Rural police suspect the role of a hit squad assigned by the husband of a Qatar-based woman in the murder of a Radio Jockey at Madavoor near Attingal. The lead came based on phone call record verification and statements from the friends of the deceased. The radio jockey Rajesh, 36, alias Rasikan Rajesh was hacked to death by a gang of four who came in a hatchback early on Tuesday.

The RJ was having an affair with a Qatar-based woman whom he got introduced to while working at a radio station in that country. The affair had created turmoil in the family and her husband had threatened to avenge that. The woman was reportedly on phone with the victim when he was attacked. Sensing danger, she called up some of his friends to inform this. It is learnt that she was willing to cooperate with the inquiry and depose before the court.

The police have started an inter-state probe based on the information that assailants have fanned out to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.  A day earlier, police had spotted the red hatchback used for the attack.  It was taken on rent from Kollam and police has sealed it to scientifically examine the vehicle. Three people including a middleman and persons who run the rent a car business was also taken into custody.
