Hyderabad: Man kills wife over land dispute
On Saturday morning, neighbours found the kids crying and rushed inside and found Devi lying unconscious.
HYDERABAD: A land dispute between a couple led to a quarrel, resulting in the furious husband killing his wife. The incident was reported at Kukatpally in which J. Srinu allegedly throttled his wife Devi (27), after an argument over her mother selling off a plot that was promised to him to another person. Srinu and Devi got married eight years ago and the couple along with their two sons resided in Raghavendra society area in Moosapet under Kukatpally Police station limits. Srinu was working as a daily wage earner, while Devi was a homemaker. The kids aged 7 and 5 study in a nearby private school in classes I and UKG respectively.
At the time of the marriage, Devi's mother R. Pipli had promised to give a plot at Chintapally village in Nalgonda district in the form of dowry to Devi's husband. But that promise was still pending when recently without the knowledge of Devi and her husband, Pipli sold the plot to another person. Devi who got to know this, went to her maternal home and fought with her mother Pipli; she later also quarrelled with the person who had purchased the plot from her mother. Srinu intervened and told her not to fight with the person who purchased the plot, but to get the money from her mother instead of the plot.
Angered Devi beat up Srinu severely in front of her family members. After they returned home, the couple started fighting over the same issue on Thursday night while both the kids were sleeping. ACP Kukatpally N. Bhujanga Rao said, "In this process, they beat each other and Srinu overpowered her and allegedly throttled her with his hands. After she died, he fled from home". On Saturday morning, neighbours found the kids crying and rushed inside and found Devi lying unconscious. They informed her mother, who in turn informed Devi's sister Vanitha residing in Dilsukhnagar.
