Bengaluru: Civil contractor held for molesting minor in car

Accused was acquainted with the victim's family.

Police have arrested the two accused and produced them in the court.

Bengaluru: A 36-year-old civil contractor was booked under POCSO Act by the Frazer Town police on Sunday for allegedly molesting a minor girl.

The arrested person has been identified as Afzal Hussain, a resident of Frazer Town. According to police, Hussain had taken a building contract near the victim’s house. The victim and her family members got acquainted with Hussain considering the fact that their son works for him.

Hussain, who frequently visited the construction site, befriended the 15-year-old victim, who is a class nine student at a school, and held long conversations with her. On many occasions he also dropped the victim home from her school in his car and had waited near her school for her come to out.

“The accused has been molesting the victim in his car since long. He used to touch the girl on inappropriate places while on way to her home. However, the girl had not informed her parents out of fear,” the police said.

But on July 28, when the accused touched the girl inappropriately and tried to be more physical, the girl gathered courage and upon reaching home, informed her mother about the incident. Her parents then approached Frazer Town police station and lodged a complaint following which Afzal was arrested.
