The police are likely to bring the accused to the spot of the crime again and seek their custody for the purpose.
Thiruvananthapuram: The police recovered poison from the house of the accused in the Rakhi murder case at Amboori on Tuesday.
Though Akhil, first accused, told the police that he and his brother Rahul, second accused, had decided to commit suicide by consuming poison, the police have not believed it. They were also inquiring whether the poison was stored for murdering Rakhi.
The police are likely to bring the accused to the spot of the crime again and seek their custody for the purpose.
Though Akhil and Rahul together murdered Rakhi, Rahul was willing to take the responsibility to ensure that his brother did not lose his job.
Akhil and Rahul, who decided to murder Rakhi on June 18, later told their friend Adarsh about it. The pit for the same was dug on June 19. She was brought to Akhil's house at Amboori on the night of June 21 and murdered. Akhil returned to his work place after the murder. However, Rahul was in a state of depression after Akhil left as he could not sleep and took only a small quantity of food.
Akhil returned home on July 20 after his father informed him about the condition of his brother. He later went back to his work place. Akhil told the police that his parents were not aware of his visit and that he and his brother thought of suicide then.
They later changed their mind and he left for his work place. The police have videographed the statement and are examining whether Akhil reached Amboori to remove Rakhi's body from the pit and dump it somewhere else.
