KARIMNAGAR: Sircilla police on Sunday arrested an inter-state fraudster on charges of cheating the people to the tune of around Rs 9 crores in the name of the multi-level business of electronic products and gold ornaments in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said the accused was identified as Kattukojula Ramesh, 37, a resident of Mallapur of Dharmaram mandal in Peddapalli district, against whom 19 cases were registered and the PD Act was also invoked in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Police said Ramesh used to work as a teacher at a private school. To earn easy money, he started cheating the people by luring and selling electronic products and gold jewellery at lower prices by running an online multi-level business in the name of ‘Telangana Food and Electronic Products’ after creating a website.

After gaining the customers’ confidence, he conned them into placing bulk orders and collected huge money only to cheat them later.

He also set up an organization called ‘KCR Seva Dhalam’ and by showing the photos with the ruling BRS leaders, he used to make the people believe him that he had connections with influential people, said the police.

Ramesh also cheated several youths by promising them of providing government jobs. After receiving several complaints from the victims, Sircilla police formed special teams which nabbed Ramesh and froze his bank accounts.

DSP Uday Reddy, CI Sadan Kumar and SI Shekar were present at the press meet.
