7 arrested for gambling in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The central zone task force arrested seven persons for gambling during a raid on a house in Himayatnagar, and seized Rs 1.05 lakh. Police identified the organiser as Goutham Jain, a businessman, who used to call his associates to play the banned three-card games. His entry fee was Rs 1,000.
Pals run away as kid drowns in quarry pit:
Hyderabad: A 12-year-old Class 7 student drowned in water that had collected in a quarry in Mattapuram village, Nagole police said on Monday. The victim M. Manish had gone to the quarry with three friends to play when he slipped into the water that was said to be 20 feet deep and drowned.
When Manish did not return home, his father M. Suresh, a painter, inquired with his neighbours and Manish’s friends in Jaipuri Colony and then lodged a complaint with the police. The police checked local CCTV camera footage and called up Mahesh's friends and their parents for questioning.
They told the police that Manish had fallen into the waters, and they had got scared and dispersed. They did not inform anyone.
Police went to the quarry pond and started a rescue attempt with the help of local fishermen. They later found his body. Police have booked a case of death under suspicious circumstances.
Police seize Rs 99L unaccounted cash:
Hyderabad: Chandanagar police and the Cyberabad special operations team on Monday seized Rs 99 lakh unaccounted cash from a cash loader for a private agency identified as V. Nagaraju. At Dundigal, police seized Rs 17.40 lakh cash. At Abdullapurmet of Rachakonda commissionerate, police seized Rs 4.5 lakh cash from a vehicle during vehicle checks on the Hyderabad- Vijayawada national highway.
