Hyderabad will have arrived 2018. In the year ahead, Hyderabad will come to be recognised as a major entrepreneurial centre, second only to Bengaluru in IT. Unlike here, Pune or Gurgaon have just six or seven unicorns each. The recently-held GES amplified the significance of Hyderabad on the international arena. 

PLUGGING SEWAGE OVERFLOW

After successfully stabilising the drinking water supply in Greater Hyderabad in 2017, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board will focus on upgrading the sewerage network in the new year to put a check to sewage overflow in any part of the city. The focus will be on supplying water to all         households in Greater Hyderabad. 

MORE POWER TO ELECTRIC SUPPLY

By the last week of March 2018, we expect to successfully synchronise 800 MW thermal plant at KTPS. Another 1,080 MW will be commissioned in December 2018. Apart from 24/7 supply to agriculture, TRANSCO is fully geared up to provide reliable supply to lift irrigation projects, the flagship programme of the state government.

Thrust on roads, civic works

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy was appreciated by both the national and global community for making necessary arrangements for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit and World Telugu Conference in the space of 20 days in 2017. The corporation boss ensured that GHMC will lay its focus on improving roads, footpaths, central medians, lane markings and other civic works like CC patches and roads-cutting restoration. 

FAST TRAFFIC YET SAFE TRAVEL

We are focusing mainly on reducing travel time for commuters and increase the speed of traffic flow, and enforcing regulations for road safety. We are also doing what all we can to reduce the number of fatalities on roads. Last year, we had 405 fatal accidents which dropped down to 302 in 2017. We now want bring it down to the 200s. 

DELIVERY SYSTEM TO SEE PERCEPTIBLE CHANGE

In a bid to ensure improvement of service delivery in every scheme, the Chief Minister wants service to be delivered at the doorstep of every individual. We also wish everyone prosperity and will ensure that the service delivery system is transparent. The public should be able to see a noticeable change in the system next year compared to the past year. 

More urban infra in pipeline

I  wish to give extra attention to health and spend quality time with my family. 2017 was a very hectic year. On the department front, Outer Ring Road (ORR) completion was a priority. Next year year, we will focus more on urban infrastructure like radial roads, logistics parks, truck park, Balanagar flyover etc as well as enhancing the green cover in HMDA limits.
