Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday called for Covid-appropriate behaviour by all as the Omicron variant of Covid19 is spreading. Addressing the inaugural event of the All India Industrial Exhibition (Numaish) here, she said, “We can defeat the Covid pandemic by doing the vaccination for all.”

“I appeal to all the entrepreneurs participating in the exhibition to maintain safety precautions. I appreciate the exhibition society for providing an overall experience of shopping, entertainment and the much-needed outing for the people,” she said.

Explaining the historical importance of the exhibition, home minister Mahmood Ali said Numaish was first organised in the city by a group of Osmania University graduates in 1938. “Amid fears of a third wave of Covid19, I request everyone to maintain social distancing norms,” he said.

“All precautionary steps have been taken by the police and fire safety departments. Police personnel who do not wear masks will be penalized,” he said.

The governor encouraged people to visit Numaish as entrepreneurs from across the country were exhibiting their products. Over 1,000 entrepreneurs in the small and medium enterprises category are showcasing their products here, she noted.

Exhibition society secretary Aditya Margam said that with over 1,400 stalls, this year's Numaish also has an exclusive vaccination centre. The number of stalls have been reduced this year to facilitate social distancing norms with extra space, he said.
