DMDK comes out with Facebook campaign

Chennai: DMDK launched its social media campaign releasing posters on its Facebook page. The new posters to herald the party’s rally “Turning Point Conference in Tamil Nadu Politics” to be held on February 20 at Kancheepuram, question the ruling AIADMK’s poll promise made in run up to the 2011 Assembly polls.

Even as the new posters were out on the Internet, DMDK chief Vijayakanth released a logo for the conference on Sunday.

DMDK is attempting to create its own space in the social media to reach out to the younger generation even though its party chief Vijayakanth who had faced wrath of political memes ridiculing his each and every actions.

“We have formed a team of social media experts to creatively publicise our party’s views among the youths. It is functioning under the supervision of party’s youth wing secretary L.K. Sudhish,” said a senior DMDK leader.

One of the posters asks what happened to the promise of a second green revolution given by AIADMK in its 2011 election manifesto. Another poster of a boy cleaning utensils asks – Do I get education? “We wanted to raise pertinent questions among the youth to initiate a dialogue with them. We will come out with more such posters,” the leader said.

At present, the focus would be mainly on the conference to be held in Kancheepuram to elicit views of party cadres on electoral strategy for the ensuing assembly election.

“The social media gives us a space to directly engage with the public, particularly youth, to explain our party’s stand,” the leader said.
