Hyderabad: To ensure the last-mile connectivity, one-way rental bikes at Rs 4 per km have started at Miyapur Metro Rail station. The bike will be operated via GPS and the passengers will be trailed.
The bike connectivity, handing over the bike to the next customer, leaving it nearest to the station and ways to prevent their theft are yet to be worked out. Mr N V S Reddy, Hyderabad Metro Rail chief, said, “It is a new system and we are trying to bring in better methods so that roads are not congested and from station to home there is connectivity.” Connectivity by RTC buses and others are also being worked out as bus bays are set up close to the Metro stations.
The number of passengers are 80,000 per day and efforts are made to increase the numbers and improve connectivity. The Miyapur-Ameerpet route has more passengers compared with the Nagole- Ameerpet stretch.
