Hyderabad High Court seeks Nalgonda SP stand on CBI probe

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Nalgonda district superintendent of police to file an affidavit explaining the stand on a petition seeking CBI probe into the murder of Boddupalli Srinivas, husband of Nalgonda municipal chairperson B. Lakshmi.

Justice A.V. Sesha Sai while dealing with the petition by Ms Lakshmi granted the SP three weeks to file the affidavit.

Ms Lakshmi moved the petition seeking to declare illegal and unconstitutional the action of the Nalgonda deputy superintendent of police and station house officer of Nalgonda II town station in conducting investigation in a biased and prejudicial manner and not considering her request to entrust the investigation to the CBI.

Petitioner's counsel C. Damodar Reddy submitted Srinivas was a close follower of local Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

He said TS leaders had insisted that Srinivas and Ms Lakshmi join the ruling party and made several promises. When he refused their offer, they threatened the couple with dire consequences.

He submitted that the prime accused in the case were close associates of TRS legislator Veeresam. They executed the plan by trapping the deceased by making a phone call through a local councillor on the night of January 29.

He said it was a political murder and urged the cou-rt to call for the call data of the accused to expose the real culprits and the conspiracy behind the killing.

He told the court that the police did not mention in the remand report of the accused about collecting the call data. He prayed the court to direct the call data of the accused to the petitioner.

Government special counsel S. Sharath Kumar submitted that police had collected the call data of the accused and disclosing details at this stage would hamper the investigation.

Maintaining that the investigation was going on in an unbiased manner, he urged the court to grant three weeks to furnish all details.

TPSC told to allow petitioner for test
The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed the secretary, Telangana State Public Service Commission, to allow the petitioner to appear for Teachers Recruitment Test scheduled in February under the local candidates’ quota and issue hall ticket.

Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao while dealing with a petition by Mr M. Rangaswami of Kurnool district granted the interim order.

The petitioner submitted that he had completed his study from Class 5 to 10 in Mahbubnagar district and as per the notification issued for the teachers’ recruitment by the commission, candidates who had completed their studies from Class 5 to 10 were eligible under the local candidates’ quota.

He said the commission had rejected his application on the ground that he was not a local candidate.

The judge directed the secretary to receive the application of the petitioner by hand and issue the hall ticket.
