MYSURU: A 22-year-old physically challenged man, who had consumed poison on January 18 after a false police complaint was filed against him, died in hospital on Wednesday.

The deceased, Dhanraj, was a paraplegic and a native of Saligrama. He took the extreme step after he got to know that a video of him getting interrogated by the police had gone viral on social media.

According to his brother Abhishek, Dhanraj had lent money to a car garage employee. While he had refused to return the money, Dhanraj had forcefully taken it back from him.

The garage employee filed a complaint against Dhanraj in Saligrama Police station alleging that he had robbed a music system from a car in the garage.

When the police questioned Dhanraj, the employee took a video and uploaded it on WhatsApp and Facebook, which later went viral.

A humiliated Dhanraj consumed poison on January 18 and was rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru for treatment, Ahbishek said.

The body was handed over to the relatives after an autopsy at Mysuru Medical college.
