Smart city claims a farce, says Corporator
Congress corporators used the KMC governing body meeting held on Wednesday as an opportunity to take on TRS.
Khammam: TRS corporators in Khammam municipal corporation are stuck between devil and deep sea while encountering the commissioner. Chief Minister KCR and minister for municipal administration KTR praised KMC as smart city on different occasions. But, minister for roads and building, Tummala Nageswara Rao, in a party meeting held recently, pointed out that there is rampant corruption among corporators. He said, “The attitude of these corporators is giving a bad name to TRS.”
Congress corporators used the KMC governing body meeting held on Wednesday as an opportunity to take on TRS. Congress corporator V. Narasimha Rao said, “I want clarification on smart city statements made by KCR and KTR on Khammam and counter statement of Mr T. Nageswara Rao about increasing corruption. Who is correct?”
TRS corporators, who until then tried exposing the commissioner’s inactivity, went into self-defence and found fault with the Congress corporator for trying to politicise local issues. TRS corporator K. Krishna said, “Though there were some issues in KMC, it has not affected Khammam’s smart city stand.” Congress MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy said, “There is nothing wrong and Vaddeboina just wants a clarification.”
All of us are working for the development of Khammam. MLA Ajay Kumar, elected from Congress too, is working for it.”
Ponguleti’s reference of the MLA being elected as a Congress candidate irked both the corporators and Ajay. With this, the goal of TRS corporators and MLAs to expose the attitude of the commissioner got diverted and the focus shifted towards Ponguleti’s statement.
