'Pilikula Biological Park' gets Hippo calf

Among the new additions is the week-old calf of Kavitha, an eight year-old hippopotamus.

Mangaluru: Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Biological Park has some new additions for visitors with a few more, including a white tiger, likely to arrive soon.

Among the new additions is the week-old calf of Kavitha, an eight year-old hippopotamus. Kavitha, along with two other hippopotamus, arrived in the park last year from Bannerghatta National Park as part of an exchange programme. “The calf was born a week ago, and is healthy and active,” director of the park, Jayaprakash Bhandary, told DC, adding “Pilikula will also have a new attraction soon – a white tiger.”
