T Harish Rao gives up RTC staff union post
Mr Rao submitted his resignation to Mr Ashvatthama Reddy, the general secretary of the Telangana Majdoor Union.
Hyderabad: TRS senior MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday resigned from the post of honorary president of the Telangana Majdoor Union of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation.
Mr Rao submitted his resignation to Mr Ashvatthama Reddy, the general secretary of the Telangana Majdoor Union.
Later in the day, Mr Rao issued a statement, saying that TMU was established during the Telangana movement with a view of creating a separate union of the RTC workers to ensure their active participation in the agitation for separate statehood.
Mr. Rao said that after the establishment of the TMU, he took charge as its honorary president, but after the formation of the separate state of Telangana, he was unable to spare time to the union activities.
While submitting his resignation Mr Harish Rao assured the RTC workers that he would continue to support activities for their welfare.
