Kochi: Infra Elevators set to commission new plant

The new facility with an investment of Rs 5 crore will be inaugurated by Mr E. Sreedharan.

Kochi: Infra Elevators, the only elevator manufacturer in the state, will commission its new plant at the industrial growth centre at Pallipuram near Thurvaoor, 35 km from Kochi. The commissioning of the new unit will help increase the capacity to 365 units per year apart from raising the turnover to Rs 40 crore from Rs 30 crore, said Mr V.A. Manoj Kumar, Managing Director of the company.

The new facility with an investment of Rs 5 crore will be inaugurated by Mr E. Sreedharan, principal advisor, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, on Saturday. The company has a market share of around 40 to 50 percent of home elevators supply in the state, said Mr A.S. Govindan, director of the company floated by four friends in 2005.  He said the company also caters to the OEMs substantially.

"All come with silent operations, child-locks, music systems, extra safety features, customized designs and very low power consumption," Mr P.K. Biju Kumar, another director, said. The company has manufactured lifts with a capacity up to 5 tonnes and the transportation speed is 2.5 m per second.
