293 persons in isolation for coronavirus in Karnataka, tests return negative
Districts bordering Kerala have been put under virus surveillance
Bengaluru: With the coronavirus scare spreading to more and more countries, the Karnataka Department of Health and Family Welfare Service has identified 421 persons who arrived from countries affected by the COVID-19 virus and put 293 of them in home isolation.
The department has released a list stating that four Chinese passengers have left the country and one has been admitted in an isolation hospital.
Some 37,063 passengers were screened at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
As of February 29, 220 samples taken from symptomatic cases have been sent for testing, out of which 215 samples were eligible for testing. All of them reported negative.
The department said 123 passengers quarantined have completed 28 days of observation.
Due to the three coronavirus positive cases reported from Kerala, the border districts of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Chamrajnagar, Udupi and Mysuru have been put under surveillance.
The Union Ministry of Health has scheduled one-day national training of trainers (nToT) on March 6 for which states have been asked to nominate four senior officials to participate in the training.
On March 9, a single-day state training of trainers is scheduled for the entire country. The nToT trainers from each state shall organise the state training to build a pool of master trainers for the district training.
The state government is also asked to identify over 50 participants for the district level trainings to support the containment and mitigation activities in the field.
