Adilabad: AICC programme implementation committee Telangana unit chairman Alleti Maheshwar Reddy will launch Telangana Congress Poru Yatra as part of the 'Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan' of the party. He released the schedule for the first phase of the programme from March 3 to March 12 in the erstwhile Adilabad district.

Mudhole, Nirmal, Khanapur, Adilabad and Boath assembly constituencies will be covered under the first phase of the yatra.

Maheshwar Reddy has personally phoned senior Congress leaders and former ministers of Adilabad district, requesting them to participate in his yatra.

It is not clear whether or not former MLC K. Premsagar Rao will support Maheshwar Reddy’s yatra, as both have remained at loggerheads and lead two groups within the Congress in the erstwhile Adilabad district.

Here are excerpts of Maheshwar Reddy’s interview with Deccan Chronicle on the Telangana Congress Poru Yatra.

Q: Could you elaborate on your Telangana Congress Poru Yatra?

A: My yatra is to strengthen the Congress party, not individual leaders. The yatra will start on March 3, with senior Congress leaders participating in it.

Q: How many assembly constituencies will you cover as part of your yatra?

A: I will be travelling through 30–40 assembly constituencies during my Telangana Congress Poru yatra. The TPCC president may join my Poru Yatra later depending on his convenience. Many other senior leaders like CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, Raja Narasimha, Madhu Yashki Goud and AICC in-charge for Telangana Congress Nadeem Javed will participate in the yatra.

When Revanth Reddy called me, I told him that I will be unable to participate in his yatra, since I will be busy with my own programme schedule. However, if time permits, I will indeed join Revanth’s yatra.

Q: Which is the route map of your scheduled yatra?

A: The yatra will start from Bhainsa on March 3. It will cover Nirmal, Khanapur, Adilabad and Boath under the first phase and later Bellampalli, Kagaznagar, Asifabad, Mancherial and Chennur assembly constituencies. I will release names of other constituencies to be covered during the yatra up to Hyderabad via Zaheerabad, Sangareddy and Patancheru.
