CHENNAI: The principal sessions court has rejected an anticipatory bail petition of a 33-year old Casanova, accused in a dowry harassment case. The accused, who was allegedly having relationship with many young girls, was stated to be absconding for over two months.
City Public Prosecutor, M.L. Jegan said the accused, A. Sundaramurthy, 33, of Salem married Bhavani, 29, (name changed) of MKB Nagar at a temple at Salem on August 24, 2009.
The wedding was attended by both families. During the wedding, Bhavani’s parents gave 85 sovereign of gold jewellery, a lorry, Rs 2 lakh and other valuables as dowry to him.
Sundaramurthy informed her family members that he had completed MBA. However, after the wedding Bhavani found he had completed only school education.
Sundaramurthy was running Thirumal Transport Company. He had been demanding Bhavani to bring more cash from her family. When she objected, he beat her and abused her. On several occasions, he drove her away from home.
She used to collect money from her family and give it to him to run the business. Gradually, he purchased nine container lorries. After becoming rich, he started moving around with girls and became an alcoholic.
Often he stayed away from home. On August 2, last year, she received a call from a girl from Nellore, informing her she had married Sundaramurthy. A few days later, she told Bhavani to check her Facebook page. The woman found him with many young girls in the photos.
Bhavani filed a complaint with MKB Nagar All Women Police Station this January. Fearing arrest, Sundaramurthy filed the anticipatory bail petition.
