Chennai: The state government on Thursday informed the Madras high court that its representatives will sit along with the high court registrar-general and the assistant solicitor-general on April 5 to remove any anomaly in sanctioning funds for deployment of CISF for high court security.

Advocate-General A. L. Somayaji said this when a suo motu taken up PIL relating to security came up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M. M. Sundresh.

The court had on March 9 directed the state government to issue necessary orders before March 30, sanctioning funds for deployment of CISF personnel for providing security to its premises.

In its present order, the court said there has been no progress since the last date and the letter produced before it dated March 29 by the advocate-general suggests that some government orders were on the anvil of issue, having been sanctioned recently and the delay was on account of financial year coming to a close.

There was discrepancy in sanction of funds for provision of electronic and security gadgets in as much as the sanctioned sum was about two-third of what was sought. Not only that two of the items were stated to be pending examination by PWD.

“Annexure III relates to the Madurai Bench, in which also we have made it clear that we would require the government order, as the work has to be carried out during the summer recess”, the bench added.

The bench said advocate-general submitted that representatives of state government would sit along with the registrar general and assistant solicitor general to remove any anomaly. The meeting is to be held on April 5. The court
listed the matter for April 13.
