Hyderabad: The SC orders extending the deadline for TS to relocate shops near highways has come as a huge relief for the state government.
The SC set September 30 as the new deadline for TS to relocate the liquor shops near highways.
The state government was worried that it would have to repay the nearly Rs 3,000 crore in licence fee of nearly 1,400 shops that come within 500 metres from highways, to the licencees in case the SC refused to extend the deadline.
The government will now issue a fresh notification to issue licences for liquor shops/bars incorporating 500 metres distance from highways norm.
