Hyderabad: Over 500 residents sat in protest at the Alwal GHMC office on Friday against the state government not granting a waiver in tax below Rs 1,200 per house, despite TRS party’s poll promise to do so during last year’s municipal (GHMC) elections.

Resident K.S. Dinakar, said, “The TRS government had announced a tax waiver of below Rs 1200 per house for the last three years when they have been collecting a token amount of Rs 100. This year, the TRS government is collecting tax with 100 to 300 per cent penalty without any justification, burdening lower middle class and the middle class.”
