BJP yet to consider promise to BDJS
On Saturday, the BJP leaders visited the households and distributed pamphlets printed under the NDA banner.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP claims that it is making great strides in Chengannur although the NDA is yet to hold its election convention. The state BJP leadership is worried that the national leadership has not yet made any move to meet the demands of the BDJS. This has prevented the NDA from going full steam ahead with the campaign though the LDF and the UDF have already held their conventions.
However, the BJP has held its ‘Maha Samparkam’ (mega contact programme) in all the 164 booth committees in the constituency. It was reported earlier that the NDA would hold its election convention last week. The BDJS national president Thushar Vellappally told DC that he had not heard anything from the central BJP leadership. Mr P. K. Krishnadas, former BJP state president, told DC that the central leadership was busy with other commitments and had no time to take a call on the BDJS demands.
“BJP will sort out the differences at the earliest. We can hold election convention anytime in Chengannur. We have already made great strides in the constituency and left our rivals far behind,” he said. BJP candidate P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has been campaigning hard. On Saturday, the BJP leaders visited the households and distributed pamphlets printed under the NDA banner.
