Hyderabad: A circumcision operation went wrong with the death of an 11-month-old child Kashi, a son of Gowtham from Hyderabad. The child was admitted on Friday evening for the operation but succumbed on Saturday afternoon. More than 100 members protested outside Niloufer Hospital on Saturday night and the police was called in to control the situation.

A senior doctor at Niloufer Hospital on condition of ann-oymity explained, “Circumc-ision operation was performed to remove the foreskin that was covering the tip of the penis. There was no bleeding or any other complication seen. We suspect that drugs have led to complications and death. There was no mistake from the surgical side as it would have come to notice immediately in the first two hours. There was no bleeding or else it would have led to an alarm and control measures would have been taken up. There is an issue with the drugs or the medicines that have been given in the post-operative care.”
