Hyderabad: Rain brings relief, but heat to go up

Hyderabad: The temperatures on Sunday crossed the 41ºC mark, giving March a sizzling farewell. The weather was rather pleasant in the evening with the skies clouding up, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
What was not pleasant was that many areas reported power cuts following a brief drizzle. Disruption in power supply was reported in Secunderbad and traffic jams reported on the Begumpet-Madhapur corridor.

The phenomenon of the temperature rising past 40ºC has been noted since 2016. In the industrial zones of Ramchandrapuram, Quthbullapur and Balanagar in Hyderabad the state planning department has recorded 42ºC on Sunday. The meteorological department offered little relief, predicting that the mercury would stay at 40ºC for the week.
According to the weather forecasting website accuweather.com, the city will be mostly sunny and warm during the day and and partly cloudy in the evening. The maximum temperatures would come down by a couple of degrees over the week. It said the air quality would not be suitable for those who are sensitive.
The IMD forecast isolated thunderstorms and light rain in different parts of the state but that will not impact the maximum temperatures in a significant manner. There was also a warning of thunderstorms and drizzles in some parts of the city.
