HYDERABAD: In a shocker amidst the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, the state has run out of the Covid vaccines, according to the health department bulletin on Friday.

The covid status bulletin released by the office of the Director of Public Health said the vaccine stock availability for Covishield and Covaxin at both the cold chain point (CCP) and district vaccine stores (DVS) was recorded at zero.

The report said that the state had 510 doses of Covaxin in stock on Thursday. On Friday, the government-administered 225 vaccines were administered at Covid vaccination centres (CVCs), 164 at government establishments and 61 at private units. Health authorities said the remaining 235 were found to be date-expired.

The report also indicated that the state recorded 21 new Covid cases on Friday, four more than on Thursday. Hyderabad recorded seven new cases, up from three on Thursday.

There was no word from either health minister T. Harish Rao or the Director of Public Health Dr G. Srinivasa Rao on the contingency plans to restock the vaccines.

Last week, the minister held a review and urged the Centre to replenish the stocks.
