Metro expansion not viable in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The study was conducted for expansion of metro rail from Vijayawada to Guntur, Amaravati capital location and Gannavaram. The study notes the expansion of metro rail for Gannavaram airport and other areas is uncalled for.

A minimum of two million population is required for a metro rail service to be viable, and there is a major deficit in this respect at the proposed stretch around Vijayawada city. The population is only of 10 lakh and the remaining areas have very little population.
