Over 2,500 nominations rejected by returning officers

Hundreds of nominations, mostly those of independents were rejected.

AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa has gone all guns blazing only against DMK and its chief M. Karunanidhi.

Chennai: A total of 2,568 nominations were rejected by returning officers on Saturday when the papers were taken up for scrutiny.

Nominations of Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, DMK leaders M. Karunanidhi and M. K. Stalin, DMDK chief  Vijayakanth, PMK leader, Anbumani Ramadoss and BJP president Tamilisai Soundarajan were found to be in order.

Hundreds of nominations, mostly those of independents were rejected. Tension prevailed as a few PMK party aspirants were rejected on technical grounds. Nominations of VCK founder Thol.Thirumavalavan, who is contesting from Kattumannarkoil and Naam Thamizhar Katchi leader Seeman in Cuddalore were also accepted.
