Farmers protest Anantapur to Amaravati road

Guntur: The AP government’s Greenfield Amaravati-Anantapur Express Highway is already facing trouble.  The locals from various areas in Guntur district have started protests against the land acquisition for the Amaravati-Anantapur Express Highway. They are demanding developing the existing road and cancellation of the Express Highway proposal.

The landowners/farmers are threatening to intensify their protests against the highway. The government has proposed a straight 598.78 km length road from Rayalaseema region to connect Amaravati directly, with an expenditure of Rs 27,635 crore.Now the continuous opposition from locals has become a thorn in the side of the officials.
