Kerala: No arrests yet in Liga Skromane case for want of proof
The result of sample slides sent for Forensic analysis was yet to be revealed.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The arrest of accused in the suspected murder of Liga Skromane continues to lag on for want of scientific evidence.
It is learnt that the police was seeking secret information from local residents in connection with the case. Despite, appeals, no one reported having seen suspicious activity or individuals at the place where Liga’s body was found. The lack of cooperation from the area was affecting the probe.
The result of sample slides sent for Forensic analysis was yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, the regional media has named four accused that were in police custody. One of them, a Yoga instructor clarified that he has no role in the murdered and fears being arraigned.
The men in custody claimed to have been elsewhere when Liga had gone missing on March 14. However, there was secret information that they were in the area. The police was attempting to find evidence to see if the men can be connected to Liga’s death.
The autopsy report points to the possibility of strangulation. No evidence of sexual abuse could be found. Liga’s body was found dangling from vines at a mangrove-covered plot on the banks of Karamana River at Pallithura.
Liga, a native of Latvia was living in Dublin, Ireland. She came to India with sister Ilze on February 4. She was undergoing treatment for depression when she went missing.
