Kottayam: An AIYF leader here has received an unusual message saying, ‘Osama Bin Laden is our god. Join hands with terrorism.’ K.K. Shihab, vice-president of AIYF Cherpu segment, who received the 'invitation twice,' has filed a complaint with the police demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Cherpu police said that a case had been registered on Shihab's complaint and that efforts were on with the help of cyber cell to trace the numbers from which the SMS was sent.
Shihab is also a Facebook activist and has often faced criticism on FB alleging that he had inclination to Islamic radical political groups. He first received the SMS on April 26 and the Cherpu SI asked him to call back on the mobile number from which the SMS was sent.
“But I did not respond to the call as it could be used against me in future. But, on April 28, the same message was sent to my phone from another number. I was then speaking to Irinjalakuda DySP Famous Varghese over an anti- drug campaign and he advised me to file a written complaint with the local police station,” Shihab said.
Shihab had recently done a campaign against unauthorised schools where religious study was conducted in the name of teaching Arabic. “My party is fully in support of me. I doubt that it was a trap set for me,” Shihab said.
