Governor: 'Mann ki Baat' created revolution, inspired people

Hyderabad: The hundredth episode of the monthly Radio broadcast of the Prime Minister ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was screened at the Raj Bhawan on Sunday. Governor  Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, as the Chief Guest, watched the special screening organised by the Prasarbharati.

 “Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat is a revolution and has attracted millions of people and touched their hearts” said Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan. The Governor, in her address said that the Mann Ki Baat personifies the celebration of India’s spirit. and has become a mass movement because of the vision of the Prime Minister. She lauded the fact that the Prime Minister chose the All India Radio as the medium of communication to reach out to all people even in the remote areas and in doing so, restored the past glory of the Radio too.

Recalling the mentions of extraordinary achievements of ordinary people in Mann Ki Baat, the Governor said that PM has this exceptional quality to connect and communicate to the people of the country. He is the only leader who have communicated to over 100 crore people through his Mann Ki Baat, she added. MKB is not only an expression of PM’s thoughts but also the expression of expectations of the people. PM reaches out to people through the bottom of his heart and his words become a people’s movement, she said. As an example, PM’s message on food wastage influenced millions of people and motivated them to utilize food optimally and ensured reduction in food wastage. Another example is ‘Selfie with Daughters’ which enthused pride in the girl child.

Talking about success of Swachh Bharat Mission, the Governor said when PM mentioned about Swachh Bharat Mission in his 1st Mann Ki Baat episode in 2014, about 75 lakh students and 40 thousand organisations participated in the cleanliness movement and 2.5 crore children participated in the drawing competition on Swachh Bharat Mission, she said. Citing examples of promotion of Khadi, Vande Bharat, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Organ Donation, COVID Vaccination, Har Ghar Tiranga, the Governor asserted that they grew into successful mass campaigns due to their mentions in the Mann Ki Baat series by the Prime Minister.

Earlier, welcoming the gathering, Shruti Patil, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) said that “Mann Ki Baat is a unique model of communication, unparalleled in the world, a first-of-its-kind radio show hosted by the Prime Minister of a country.” 

The event was attended by Padma Awardees from the state, eminent personalities along with those mentioned by the Prime Minister in the previous episodes of Mann Ki Baat. 

Earlier, the Governor released the monthly magazine Yojana of the Publications Division featuring Mann Ki Baat. She inaugurated a photo exhibition on Mann Ki Baat put up by the Central Bureau of Communication. On the occasion, the Governor planted a sapling and handed over the saplings to those who were mentioned in earlier episodes of Mann Ki Baat.
