Andhra Pradesh continues to reel under heatwave
The mercury levels continued to soar above 42 degree celsius in majority of places in the state on Wednesday.
Visakhapatnam: There was no let up from the scorching temperatures for the people of Andhra Pradesh as the mercury levels continued to soar above 420Celsius in majority of places in the state on Wednesday. The searing temperatures are expected to continue for one more day on Thursday in Andhra Pradesh.
Severe heatwave conditions prevailed at isolated places in Srikakulam and heatwave conditions continued in parts of East Godavari. The maximum temperatures witnessed a dep-arture of 2 to 50C in almost all parts of the state. Jangamaheswarapuram registered the highest maximum temperature of the day of 43.60C, followed by Kakinada 43.10C, Vijayawada 43.10C, Machilipatnam 430C and Tuni 42.70C.
According to the Met department a trough on the sea level chart has been running from Odisha to South Tamil Nadu across coastal Andhra Pradesh and light rains are predicted in isolated places of AP in the next one to two days. According to the Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Society, severe heatwave conditions prevailed in 10 mandals and lesser heatwave conditions in 82 mandals. About 27 mandals of East Godavari experienced the heatwave conditions, the highest among all the districts of the state on Wednesday.
