Hyderabad: TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram on Wednesday announced that the organisation will take Telangana state’s new Land Acquisition Act to Delhi to expose the TRS government’s forcible acquisition of thousands of acres of farmers’ lands.

Participating in a Telangana Advocates JAC meeting here, Prof. Kodandaram asked farmers not to lose heart over the forcible acquisition of lands in the guise of new Land Act. He said armed with the new Act, the state government has started harassing small farmers who own two to three acres of land by paying lump sum amount as compensation without following proper procedure as laid down by the Centre’s Land Acquisition Act 2013 that is mandatory even if the TS government wants to implement its own Act.

He also assured the farmers that the courts will safeguard their interests if they approach them and said that the TJAC will take up the issue on their behalf.

Prof. Kodandaram alleged that the TRS government has so far acquired lakhs of acres of land in Ranga Reddy district alone in the name of various companies.

He also demanded a CBI inquiry into the Miyapur land scam alleging there were big hands involved in the affair and the scam was not the handiwork of some sub-registrars and a few private individuals.
