Andhra Pradesh Assembly to have 13 Srinivases

Vijayawada: As many as 13 MLAs elected from various Assembly seats of the 175 MLAs in Andhra Pradesh state have some variation of “Srinivas” in their names.
The people of Andhra have a penchant for christening their children with Gods names and the most popular names are Srinivas, Srinu, Venkateswarlu, Venka-tesh, Ramu and Vishnu. Lord Balaji in Tirumala is popularly known as “Srinivasudu”, seen as the most trusted and powerful God.
Priest B. Janardhan said that some names are given to girls and boys like Ramu (boys) and Ramu-lamma to a girl. But Srinivas is a male name and it is given only to boys and it is the top popular name in South India as Tamilians and Malayalees name their boys Srinivas too.
According to reports, the S Kota MLA’s name is K. Srinivas Rao, Bheemili MLA, Muttasetti Srinivas Rao, Visakhapatnam north Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ramachandrapuram Ch. Srinivas and Nidadavolu MLA is G. Srinivas Naidu. Bhimavaram MLA who defeated Jana Sena chief K. Pawan Kalyan is Grandhi Srinivas, Ungutur P. Srinivas Rao, Eluru Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, Vijayawada West Velampalli Srinivas, Narasaraopeta Dr G. Srinivas Reddy, Ongole Balineni Srinivas Reddy, Koduru K. Srinivasulu and Chittoor MLA name is Arani Srinivas alias Srinivasulu.
