Per capita income doubled, says TRS
The TRS government said it was because of the negligence of its predecessors that some irrigation projects were in ruins.
Hyderabad: The TRS government has claimed that the per capita income of the state after its five-year tenure has more than doubled compared to what it used to be in undivided Andhra Pradesh. It has also surpassed the national per capita income, it said.
A 474-page document, released to mark the fifth State Formation Day and five years of the TRS government, says the per capita income in Telangana state stands at Rs 2,06,107 against the national figure of Rs 1,26,699. The per capita income in undivided AP stood at Rs 95,361.
The government claimed that the broad-perspective approach of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in taking initiatives in welfare and development sectors had culminated in the overall progress of the newly-formed state within just five years.
And although there were apprehensions that the state would face a power crunch, it now tops the country in per capita power consumption. The government said that the annual percentage of power utilisation, which stood previously at 6 percent, rose to 13.62 percent (the highest in the country) in 2017-18.
The TRS government said it was because of the negligence of its predecessors that some irrigation projects were in ruins. It commenced 23 major and 13 medium projects and prioritised them all so as to irrigate 68.19 lakh acres of land. The government referred to the Kaleswaram, Palamuru Ranga Reddy, and several other lift irrigation schemes, and even Mission Bhagiratha, which aims to supply drinking water through taps to every household in the state.
The report said that the TRS had retained power due to its various welfare schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, pensions under the Asara schemes, Kalyan Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, oversees scholarship schemes for BC, SC, ST, and minorities students, and the 2BHK scheme.
It listed several initiatives taken up in real estate and IT sectors and said Hyderabad was growing rapidly in all spheres, including construction. It claimed that the construction sector in Hyderabad was growing 20 percent faster than in Bengaluru and Chennai. It further said that real estate transactions had escalated and Hyderabad between April and August last year recorded a profit of Rs 1,844 crore, while the profit recorded thus far this year stands at Rs 2,519 crore.
