Hyderabad: The TS government on Thursday initiated steps to host at least a few Olympic events in Hyderabad in 2028, if India is successful in bidding for the 2028 Olympics and has decided to send a team to story the Games in Rio.
The team will and also meet sport persons and take up a comprehensive study on the norms to be adopted while building these facilities and the extent of land required for creating infrastructure and other facilities.
The team has been asked to interact with Olympic officials and officials of the Brazilian government and infrastructure firms to know the policies, methods and procedures they have adopted in the successful execution of stadia and infrastructure projects.

“Hyderabad has world-class sporting facilities in the Gachibowli complex. Besides, there are world-class badminton and tennis facilities. These facilities can be utilised to host the Games. We will visit all stadiums and facilities in Brazil during the Olympics and study what is required to prepare Hyderabad for hosting Olympic even-ts,” said Mr Burra Ven-katesham. The committee has been asked to submit the report in three months.
