NGO revives 16 Bengaluru lakes
Established in 2008, the NGO currently has 200 volunteers to foster the cause and has so far involved five thousand community volunteers.
Bengaluru: City based NGO United Way of Bengaluru, has helped revive 16 lakes through community participation. Through its initiative -Wake the Lake, the NGO cleaned and restored lakes in Kundalahalli, Mahadevpura, Uttarahalli, Halasaru, Devasandra and Yelahanka to name a few.
During his address on the annual day celebration on Friday, Chairman Prashanth Prakash said, “It gives us immense pleasure to see more and more communities becoming aware of the problem and coming together to support their neighbourhood lakes. We feel even more motivated to improve the conditions of many more lakes in Bengaluru.”
Environmentalist Dr A.N. Yellappa Reddy was also present at the event, along with Minister for Tourism, IT and BT Priyank Kharge and retired High Court judge Justice N.K. Patil.
